Day Tours FAQ

Who will be on our day trip or city tour?
On private tours, every tour is run exclusively for you, your friends or family. No other guests/strangers will be included on your individual tour. You will only be accompanied by your guide and/or driver.
On public tours (regular departure tours) you will be accompanied by a small group of fellow guests whom you will be able to mingle with and meet. The maximum number of guests on our tours is between 8 and 20 guests dependent on tour.
How many people can I bring on a tour with me?
Generally, you can add as many people as you like to your tour, however, some tours will have restrictions. For example, for safety reasons, we only allow a restrictive number of guests on walking or cycling tours.
I'm travelling alone - can I still book a private tour?
Sure! We love solo travelers! Be aware though that most costs are per tour, not per person.
What's included in the price of your day tours?
All day tours include the services of an expert & engaging tour guide. Tours that cover longer distances will include transportation (this can be private vehicles or public transport). Some tours will include food & entrance fees. You can find out all inclusions on each tour page before you book.
What vehicles do you use on your tours?
This depends on the group size – we generally use Mercedes E-Class saloons or similar and for larger groups we use Mercedes V-Class, Ford Tourneo Custom or similar. Sometimes we may also use a 16-seat vehicle. On our eco tours we use public transport exclusively.
The activitiy levels per tour - what do these mean?
Very Easy: Paths with an even surface.
Easy: Similar to “Very Easy” but can involve more walking in general during the tour.
Moderate: Paths less well-surfaced and uneven in places. Other activities may be involved (e.g. easy cycling).
Challenging: Some open walking, scrambling over rocks and hands-and-feet work, particularly if wet. Longer distances covered. Cycling off-road.
Where do your tours depart from?
Many tours depart from a easy central location such as Newcastle central Station but, often, we offer bespoke pick-up locations such as your hotel or cruise terminal. Speak to us before you arrive and we can usually accommodate easily & happily.
Are there WC breaks on tours?
We are never far away from restrooms & we can usually accommodate you with an easy solution. Everywhere we stop for a longer period of time will have WC provided.
Should I tip the driver and/or guide?
If you’ve had a great experience and you feel your driver/guide deserves a gratuity it will be accepted with thanks.
Whats should I wear?
Never forget that you are in Britain – we have 4 seasons in one day sometimes… Generally though, we recommend you bring suitable clothing for changing weather and footwear (flat shoes that are comfortable to walk/cycle in) for your tour. Bring layers…
What languages do you offer?
We can provide our tours for you in several languages – let us know at booking and we should be able to accommodate you in the following: English, German, Dutch, French & Italian.
What is your cancellation & rescheduling policy?
For many of our tours we provide a flexible cancellation policy in that you can cancel or reschedule up to 24h before departure of your tour. Take a look at our full Booking Terms & Conditions for all tour cancellation policies.
Do you offer Accessible & Wheelchair-Friendly Tours?
The short answer is, yes. However, please speak with us prior booking to ensure we can make all the necessary arrangements for you. We can arrange accessible vehicles for you and we can alter most walking tours to suit wheelchair users or guests with limited mobility.

Do I need travel insurance?
Yes, it is a condition of travel with us that you have adequate travel insurance protection. Travel insurance, dependent on provider and policy, will usually provide cover for unexpected occurrences such as flight delay, loss of luggage or personal items, any required medical treatment during travel and if you are forced to cancel prior to travel for any variety of reasons.
Do I need a travel visa?
People travelling from the USA, Canada, Australia and from within the EU do not usually require travel visas, you will just be asked to complete a landing card during your flight to Britain. In any case, however, please check with your local British Embassy or check online with the UK Border Agency at the following link:

Please note that we cannot assist with the application of visas or offer advice on the requirements of any documents needed for travel to the UK.
Will Brexit affect my travels?
In 2016, the UK decided to leave the European Union – this came into effect in January 2020 with a transition period of no change up until at 31 December 2020. From October 2021, visitors to the United Kingdom must be in possession of a valid passport (ID cards are not acceptable for European travellers from this point onwards). You will need to ensure that you have a valid passport and any necessary paperwork/visa etc. to allow entry into the UK. Speak to us about any concerns you may have. We always have the latest information to hand & will try to assist. We must stress, however, we are unable to assist with any Visa applications or similar.
How are you looking after my health after the COVID-19 pandemic?
The safety & health of our guests are of paramount importance to us. Our partners (hotels, transport companies, tourist guides) all play a vital role in keeping you safe. It is our duty to be pro-active in any such measures, hence there will be new health protocols implemented for us & our suppliers to ensure all guests experience the very best we have to offer in a safe and healthy way.
As before, our focus is on quality and enriched experiences for you in an authentic and sustainable way. This position is strengthened by the outbreak in 2020 and, moving forward, plays an even stronger role in all tours we create for our customers.
We are constantly updating our protocols following the pandemic in 2020. For more information, please take a look at our health protocols.
