“The pub is the heart of England.” according to 17thC diarist Samuel Pepys. So, to explore Newcastle’s heart, we have cherry-picked some of the oldest & most iconic pubs to experience!

We look forward to sharing their fascinating tales as many amusing anecdotes emerged from the toon’s local pubs. Take the Tyneside anthem “Blaydon Races”, usually sung at Newcastle United matches, which was first performed in a local pub.

We’ll also find out about the rise and fall of local brewery sites such as the iconic Newcastle Brown Ale and also the recent resurgence of dozens of micro-breweries making Newcastle one of the go-to places for independent brewers and beer lovers.

Of course, all this will be accompanied by some fantastic local ales and beers for you to enjoy – we promise you a fun tour with a good mix of history and today, old and new.
